Job Applicant Privacy Notice

This Job Applicant Privacy Notice describes how American State Bank & Trust Company (“we,” “us,” and “our”) uses, obtains, and processes job applicant (“you” and “your”) information in connection with our recruiting activities. We have separate privacy policies related to our relationships with our customers and those separate privacy policies may differ from these policies if you are also a customer of ours. If you are a customer of ours, those customer privacy policies control as to your relationship with us as a customer.

  1. Information We Collect

When you apply for a job with us, we may collect certain information from and about you to evaluate and process that application. This information may include:

  • Identification data, such as full name, telephone number, fax number, physical address, and email address.
  • Professional data such as previous work experience, education, references, language, and other skills and employment-related information.
  • Information on work-related licenses, permits, and certifications.
  • Optional demographic data, such as race, veteran status, or disability status (collected and used only for equal employment opportunity tracking where legally applicable).
  • Work authorization status.
  • Information relating to references.
  • Criminal history information.

The information that we obtain about you during a job application process may be used for the following purposes:

  • To assess your qualifications for employment and make hiring decisions.
  • To communicate with you regarding your job application, your inquiries and requests, and/or other job openings.
  • To conduct criminal background history, background, and employment checks.
  • To improve our recruitment processes.
  • To comply with or monitor our compliance with any applicable law or regulation.

We may share your information with:

  • Authorized employees involved in the hiring process.
  • Background check providers or verification agencies.
  • Government agencies if required by law or legal process.
  • IT service providers supporting our recruitment systems.

We do not sell your personal information. Any third-party handling of your information would be governed by the third party’s privacy policies, and we would not be responsible for their handling of your information. We will comply with the requirements of the Fair Credit Reporting Act before requesting a background check on you.

We retain applicant data as long as necessary for the purposes described, for legitimate business reasons, or as required by law. For applicants that are hired, we may retain your applicant information for the duration of your employment and for a period after you leave employment with us.

We reserve the right to modify, alter, or update the terms and conditions of this Notice from time to time without any notice to you.
